Helping Customers and Communities
We strive to be a force for good in the communities that we operate in. That’s why we collaborate with our customers, our supply chain and the local community to ensure we deliver real benefits for people and the planet, locally, nationally and globally.
Building Sustainable Supply Chains
We know our customers want to minimise their impact on the environment. That’s why we help them to improve their efficiency by providing them with sustainable, energy-efficient buildings and access to a range of services that help measure and mitigate their operational carbon. From installing rooftop solar panels to providing EV charging points for electric cars and delivery vehicles, our customers feel the benefits of reduced building and operational energy output. At Prologis DIRFT in the East Midlands, customers can also access rail freight services, helping them reduce road miles and increase delivery speed.
BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES
Our sustainability programme funds specialist educators from The Eden Project to run workshops in schools and colleges local to our developments. These workshops help young people explore climate change and understand how they can play their part in protecting our planet. Over the past 16 years, this programme has educated almost 8,000 young people across 91 schools and colleges close to Prologis Parks.
PROMOTING CLEANER, GREENER TRAVEL
Helping our park employees find sustainable ways to get to work not only reduces their individual carbon footprints; it also saves them money and reduces local congestion. From cycle paths and electric vehicle charging, right through to our parkwide car-sharing initiative, the Prologis Green Travel Scheme helps employees find cleaner, greener ways to travel.
DELIVERING VALUE FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES
We have a long-standing and trusted relationship with our supply chain and, in 2018, we became the first UK property company to require our suppliers to sign-up to our Social Value Charter. This agreement provides a framework for our entire supply chain to join, with the aim of delivering more value to the communities that we serve and operate in. From sourcing goods and labour locally, right through to community-based volunteering and apprenticeships, our buildings are delivering value for the local community long before the customer moves in.
Keeping Local Economies Strong
Providing jobs and opportunities for local people is key to keeping local economies strong. That’s why we introduced the Prologis Warehouse and Logistics Training Programme (PWLTP). Based at The Hub – our centre for logistics training and education, based at Prologis DIRFT in Northamptonshire. This free programme provides training for young people, the unemployed and those looking to develop the skills needed to pursue a career in the logistics sector and equips them to work within our customer’s buildings.
Making an Impact
Every year, our employees from across the globe take part in a day of volunteering to deliver change for a local community project or charity. Over the years we have created a community garden in Birmingham, built new outdoor teaching and play facilities for a Warwickshire school and created new paths, animal shelters and an outdoor classroom for an animal charity that helps both neglected animals and those with physical and learning disabilities.
