Prologis director helps charity partner stay fighting fit | Blog | Prologis UK

This weekend, Mel Brand, a Director in the Investment Services Team at Prologis UK will take on the ‘2.6 challenge’ in aid of Cure Leukemia.

Mel, a keen cyclist and fitness expert has been a long-standing supporter of Cure Leukemia and, over the past few years, has completed a number of cycling fundraising challenges, including Geoff Thomas’ ‘Le Tour – One Day Ahead’ challenge – where she cycled the equivalent distance of Land’s End to John O’Groats and back again, and then onto Plymouth, and negotiating seven mountain stages featuring five summit finishes along the way.

The 2.6 Challenge’, is a campaign to help charities across the UK address an expected £4 billion income shortfall following the Covid-19 Pandemic. The campaign, which will launch on Sunday 26th April, the original date for the London Marathon, aims to get the public to come up with fun and innovative activities around 2.6 or 26.

This weekend, instead of heading out on her bike to raise much-needed funds, Mel will complete 26 cross-fit challenges in just 26 hours over Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th.  In addition to donating through her Just Giving page, Mel is also encouraging people to join in via Instagram.

“Due to the current global situation, Cure Leukaemia, like so many charities across the UK, has been hugely impacted by the cancellation or postponement of major fundraising events including Geoff Thomas’ GT15 Tour de France cycling challenge which aimed to raised £1,000,000 for the charity,” Mel explains.

“By taking on the 2.6 challenge this weekend I hope to raise much needed funds for this amazing charity and I’d urge anyone who can to get involved.”

The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.
