From cycle rides and cake sales to volunteering, Prologis is all about making a difference. With this in mind, we were delighted to sponsor LandAid’s SleepOut, a fundraising event to help tackle homelessness in young people.
On Thursday 2 March, at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, 12 members of the Prologis UK team spent the night sleeping outside and experiencing the harsh conditions encountered by 122,000 homeless young people in the UK. During the night, we reflected on the tough realities that our young people face daily. We were safe and secure during the night, however, this is not the case for those who are homeless.
This year the event has raised over £500,000 so far and over 1,000 property professionals across the UK came together to show their support. All the funds raised at the Birmingham SleepOut will go to St Basils and its Live and Work Village project, which works with young people who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness and enables them to find and keep a home, as well as develop essential skills to grow their confidence.
The pandemic has put many more homeless young people at risk, and we’re extremely proud to support this worthwhile initiative. Any last donations will be accepted on 31 March and these additional funds will provide emergency bed space and create safe and secure accommodation for young people experiencing homelessness.
