One of our main values is recruitment and skills training, which is exactly why we have invested in the creation of The Hub. Located at RFI DIRFT in Daventry, The Hub is a purpose-built facility, dedicated to pursuing the Prologis UK Warehousing and Logistics Training Programme (PWLTP).
We launched PWLTP at The Hub in 2021, with the aim of helping young and unemployed people in Northamptonshire and wider SEMLEP area kick start a career in logistics. The courses on offer also help to sharpen their skills and knowledge around CV writing and interviews, in order to improve their employability.
After progressing through the programme, attendees are put in touch with local logistics businesses, many of which are long-term customers at local Prologis Parks. In its first year, 96 local people who completed training at The Hub have secured employment. Their employment has delivered social economic value equivalent of £1.54 million.
The Hub recently saw another group of keen individuals complete the course, one of which is Rachel Priest, a 28-year-old from Northampton. Using the programme to gain her forklift truck driving licence, enhance her CV, and develop important interview skills, Rachel’s experience at The Hub will have a lasting impact on her future career.
Speaking about the PWLTP, Rachel Priest, said: “I’ve always been a hands-on person and the range of jobs available in logistics really appeals to me. The courses so far have been great and I’ve really found it useful talking about my CV and my skills. It’s given me a lot more confidence and I feel much more comfortable about applying for jobs now. Achieving my forklift licence is very exciting too!”
Robin Woodbridge, our head of capital deployment, said: “Seeing people progress through the courses and find employment is exactly why we set up the PWLTP. Businesses on our Prologis Parks need access to an employment pool of skilled workers, and we know there’s an appetite in the region for jobs which offer security and progression. The programme has had a very strong start and we’re looking forward to helping many more people build a career in the fast-paced world of logistics.”
