You might already be aware that, last week seven of the Prologis UK team took part in our third annual LandAid SleepOut to help end youth homelessness.

Donning their sleeping bags and taking to The Mailbox carpark floor, The Prologis SleepOut Team managed to raise over £5,000 between them! Contributing to the astounding total of £468,596 raised by volunteers across the country, the fundraising efforts of the Prologis team, and everybody that took part in the SleepOut nationwide, raised a phenomenal amount of money in aid of local charities, and to that we say a huge thank you!

LandAid in Birmingham is a regional supporter of St. Basils – a charity that focuses on youth homelessness and preventing the cycle of homelessness before it happens. The money raised will go towards supporting young people by enabling them to find a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities, and ultimately, prevent homelessness.

Among our team of intrepid volunteers was Dannie Cull, RECX Assistant. Despite having never taken part in a SleepOut before, thanks to some team motivation and self-determination, she made it through the night:

“Our team were fantastic at building a big tent to keep us a little warmer and lift each other’s spirits – I really got to know my colleagues better! I think I got around two hours sleep, on and off, and at 4am I woke up from having sore hips and a very cold nose! I just pulled my sleeping bag over my face and braved the following couple of hours.

“Thinking about how people without a home go through this, in worse conditions, day in day out, was such a humbling experience. It was good to get home!”

From April 2020 to March 2021, St. Basils was able to advise and support 3,860 young people and managed to prevent 82% of those people from becoming homeless. If you haven’t already, there is still time to donate to the fantastic charity here. Any donation, big or small, will make a difference to somebody’s life.

Again, a massive thank you to everybody who took part in last week’s SleepOut and to those who have donated. Despite the cold noses and uncomfortable conditions, we would all do it again.
