Rosemary Wilkins, Director of Logistics and Martin Cole, Logistics Development Manager at Screwfix visited Prologis Park Fradley, to celebrate the progress of the company’s 562,000 square foot distribution centre that Prologis is developing on the site. The new facility, which started on site at the end of 2016, is due to complete in autumn 2017 and will bring 700 jobs to the local community.

Omni-channel trade retailer Screwfix, which is part of Kingfisher plc, is expanding its distribution base to meet the needs of its expanding business. The new distribution centre at Prologis Park Fradley is next to the A38 north of Lichfield and close to the M42, M6, M6 Toll and M1 motorways.

“We’re adding a store a week to our store network, so we need to make sure we have a logistics operation in place that can accommodate the needs of our expanding business,” said Rosemary Wilkins, Director of Logistics, Screwfix. “Fradley is at the heart of the motorway network, which puts us in a perfect location to deliver stock to our store network of over 500 stores quickly and efficiently to help our busy trade customers get what they want, when they need it from the nearest Screwfix, so they can get back to the job as quickly as possible.”

The new distribution centre, which is the first building to be constructed at Prologis Park Fradley, has been designed to achieve a minimum BREEAM ‘very good’ accreditation and an EPC ‘A’ rating.

“The Screwfix building is starting to take shape and we’re really pleased with progress on site,” said Alan Sarjant, Senior Vice President, Prologis. “We have a long and successful relationship with Screwfix, so we’re delighted that we could offer a facility of the right size in the right location to accommodate the next phase of Screwfix’s business expansion.”

Prologis Park Fradley is a joint venture between Prologis and Wittington Investments (Developments) Limited. The Screwfix distribution centre is forward funded by a wholly owned subsidiary of Tritax Big Box REIT plc.

Prologis owns and manages approximately 23 million square feet of logistics and industrial space in the UK as of December 31,2106.
